Some reviews warned that this was only a 150 lb scale. This is not the case. I received a scale that can measure up to 330 lbs. It can be used with a 9v battery (included) or an AC adapter (included). It comes with a wall bracket so you can mount the display on the wall above the scale. It can do pounds our kilograms and it remembers the last settings used. I haven't tested the accuracy, but it appears close enough for our shipping needs. It has a clock that always displays when the unit is off. It has a bright blue backlit display when turned on.

This printer is wonderful. The print quality is exceptional, the speed is plenty fast enough and it was exceedingly easy to set up. I get excellent quality prints everytime. If I see a little smudge, I just tell the printer to clean the heads and my prints are once again perfect. We now have two that we purchased from Amazon, and I am trying hard to justify getting another one for my home. The employees that regularly use these printers are extremely satisfied. And the price is amazingly low.

We also followed the menus to select a photo to print as an 8-by-10. The process was slow but intuitive, with most of our time spent waiting for the index sheet to print. The results were very good, with exceptionally sharp thumbnails and a surprisingly sharp and colorful 8-by-10, even using the printer's default normal mode.

Next, we installed the software drivers, connected the printer to our PC, and printed our standard test documents using the printer's three modes--draft, normal, and best. Mixed color and black text documents printed at 5.6, 2.1, and 0.9 ppm respectively. Black-only text documents printed at 6.3, 3.9, and 0.6 ppm. (All speeds were adjusted upward to account for first-page delay.) Draft documents were faded; normal documents were sharper and had more accurate color; best documents were exceptionally sharp, requiring close inspection to distinguish them from the output of a laser printer.

The PS1215 shined brilliantly in our color photo tests. On our PC, we used the included photo printing software to select our own high-resolution digital photos and to position them in the software's predefined page layouts. Samples were a bit slow to print--a typical 8-by-10 required 4 minutes and 28 seconds--but the output was superb on HP's premium glossy photo paper (sample pack included). Our samples displayed rich and accurate color, perfect register, fine detail, and realistic skin tones. There was no visible banding or smearing and only the faintest hint of pixelation.

The PhotoSmart 1215 is priced considerably above its sub-0 rivals, but the dramatic improvements in quality justify the extra cost. It operates quietly, sets up easily, prints very sharp text on a variety of media, and produces beautiful color documents and photos. Considering I have a billigion passwords to remember, I began to think about some type of password storage device. I tried a portable password storage application which I housed on my thumbdrive so I can have access to my passwords wherever I go. After a while it got old opening up the application, then the database that housed all the passwords and finally typing them in. With the Eikon To Go Digital Privacy Manager, all those steps are consolidated into one easy swipe of my finger. All I do is go to my e-mail Web page, my school Web page, all my banking Web site, and so forth and simply swipe my finger and boom, not only does it enter my username and password, but it actually takes me to the next page after the log in! On top that, and I didn't know this when I bought the device, but there is a "Personal Safe" and the ability to encrypt files and/or entire folders (even on FAT filing systems)! How cool is that?! I do have a few files, such as those with my network information that I want to keep secure, so now I can either place this file into my "Personal Safe" where it gets encrypted, or I can simply keep the file on my desktop and encrypt it there. Either way it's protected because only my fingerprint will allow access. Another cool thing about this little device is that it doesn't actually store a digital image of your fingerprint but a mathematical representation of your fingerprint. Because of this, if someone happens to get a hold of my device, there is absolutely no way my fingerprint can be copied, replicated, or otherwise duplicated, so all my information stays safe regardless.

To be honest I would afraid this was going to be one of those devices that was "too perfect" meaning if you didn't swipe your finger at the precise angle, speed, and force, it wouldn't read it, but it is surprisingly flexible. It's flexible enough to allow for a little "mis-swipe" but at the same time any major "mis-swipe" and the finger swipe will be denied.

All-in-all, this is just a great product. I had my wife and my kids swipe their finger to see if it would allow access and everybody was denied! I highly suggest this to those who have a lot of passwords to remember and a fair amount of sensitive information, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

I have had my Fellowes C-120 strip cut shredder for about a month and I love it. Fellowes Powershred C-120 18-20 sheet Strip Cut Shredder I find shredding documents to be a great stress reliever especially when the shredder works as well as this one does.

I've worked with several confetti cross-cut type shredders from various manufacturers and none last very long or can handler more than just a few sheets of paper at a time. They are slow, noisy, and create a mess when you have to empty the waste container. I think for the average user you probably don't really need a cross-cut shredder.

I've also worked with several strip cut shredders and they always seem more durable. They are faster, make a lot less noise, and it is easier to clean up any mess generated when you need to empty the machine. I have found that in general the Fellowes brand strip-shredders seem to perform the best.

The Fellowes Powershred C-120 is perfect for what I need. I have a small home office and shred about 150 sheets of paper every day. My shredder is powerful and seems to easily handle 20 pages of paper at a time. It is fast and quiet. I can shred paper and talk on the phone at the same time. It has a decent capacity waste container. It stands as tall as my desk surface. I anticipate that I will be using this machine for several years to come.

I would recommend this shredder if you need a larger shredder for a small office.

When unit received, put it to work, probably too much according to specs. Performed very well, just jammed once and that was my fault, too thick of a load. I know it takes 10 pages, I would not want to shred 12 pages of my copy paper. I shredded a cd and credit card, worked. I am caught up on my shredding for a while, but still have more to do. I find the recommendations 2 minutes on 4 minutes off, work very well. If you get your stuff to shred in order, the 2 minutes seems like a long time. I do question the manual that no maintenance needed other than wiping off housing w/mild soap and water. Will be calling Honeywell to confirm. Seems as though oil would be needed after a while. When basket is pulled out, power is off. The wheels are a big help. I highly recommend...

UPDATE: January 18, 2010.

About a month ago I noticed the 'automatic' did not stop automatically after shredding. The 'automatic' reverse still shuts off automatically. Talking with Honeywell, I would have to pay for shipping to return item that is still under warranty. I told Honeywell by the time I paid shipping to California from Texas, I could add a little money and have a new one. I did tell Honeywell I would be posting this review. The unit still works except for the above.

I am a college instructor and I use Powerpoint in just about all my classes. For almost three years, this device left me with nothing but frustration. While the laser pointer is reliable, the slide changer hardly ever works. Replacing the batteries didn't help. I finally gave up on it about an hour ago, concluding it is one more flawed gadget tossed to us unwary consumers. Then I read one of the reviews above that not only recommended synchronizing but also outlined the three steps involved. Here they are:
1. Push the USB button at the top once it's plugged in.
2. Hold it on push.
3. Push (and hold) the little button on the back of the presenter. Green lights should flash and you are good to go. I now have a presenter that really works.

the rca speaker phone with caller id works very well. i hooked it up to my digital phone recorder from [...] and it lets me answer on speaker all of my calls on both lines (it is a 2 line rca speakerphone). i recommend it for answering calls when i pickup the handset of the phone, as well as touching the button for incoming phone calls. as for the recorder, i use a pc phone recorder for each phone line. the first pc phone recorder i connected, i bought from [...] and the second recorder i connected to my speaker phone was from [...]. i think both are pretty much the same usb phone recorder, and they work well with each other (i can record 2 lines at the same time when on 2 separate phone calls).

The first time I took calculus and physics courses, we used slide rules, and the IBM 360 was the standard computer-the first Apple wasn't even a glint in Steven Jobs' eye! In 1971, a fellow graduate student showed up in the lab one day with a "Bomar Brain", a four function handheld electronic calculator that he bought for 5 (the minimum wage was about .25 at the time)! Interestingly, TI made the chips that powered the Bomar Brain.

Things have come a long way! I've been using my Ti-84 for over a year for my math and physics courses, but when I started Differential Equations, the Professor asked that we not use graphing calculators (didn't want to make it TOO easy on us LOL), so I needed something that could handle trig function, natural logs, and fractions. This little beauty fit the bill perfectly, and for the price just can't be beat. The color is ATROCIOUS, but I suppose it's better than "jaundice yellow"! Recommended highly!

Canon CanoScan 5000F Scanner

Canon CanoScan 5000F Scanner Review

I was able to set up the scanner with no difficulty on my 2.4GHz/512MB P4 system. It took about 20 minutes I guess to install the software and plug in the scanner.

I have used the scanner primarily for photos. The multi-scan mode is GREAT. I have scanned 4 pictures at a time and they are put into 4 separate files. That's a huge time saver, and it works EVERY time for me despite what the editorial review said. I would never buy a scanner without multi-scan mode. The quality is good too. I settled on 600 dpi as the optimal resolution setting (good detail scanned within a reasonable amount of time without files that are too large).

I tried scanning negatives once. It worked well, and the quality was better than scanning photos. My only complaint was that switching the scanner back and forth between regular mode and film mode is a little flimsy. I'm afraid that sliding the white shield too many times would wear it out. It slides on a groove made of poster board type material. But I don't plan to scan many negatives.

I also scanned a magazine page and that worked great.

This scanner is a great choice for a multi-purpose scanner at a reasonable price.

Installation of the scanner was fast and flawless. We scanned a variety of documents and photos using default settings. Results appeared sharp and clear (and fast too, thanks to full USB 2.0 support). Colors were bright, and skin tones were natural, with only modest speckling that was easily removed in software.

Only one test was disappointing. Multi-scan mode lets you scan several photos at once into separate files. Unfortunately, the ScanGear CS driver had difficulty consistently recognizing individual pictures, often combining two small photos into one big one, even when they were well-separated on the glass. We saw improved results as we reduced the number of photos from four to three and still more improvement from three to two.

The CD-ROM contains the ScanGear CS and WIA drivers, CanoScan Toolbox, ArcSoft PhotoStudio and PhotoBase, ScanSoft OmniPage SE, NewSoft PageManager and BizCard (trial), Adobe Acrobat Reader (and support for scanning directly into PDF files), and various software user's guides. I've owned Pansonic phones before and have come to trust their products. Instructions were easy to follow and the menu on the phone itself can walk you through most of it's features. Base has a bracket for wall mounting or can place it on a desk. I put a phone/charger in my shop while the base is in the house and I have no trouble receiving calls. I can talk to anyone in the house using the intercom and the handy belt clip allows me to hang the phone on me while I move around without having to hand carry it or wonder where I put it down.

I've owned the (KX-TG6413T)for several months and can't believe my good fortune in buying it. It has crystal clear sound and is very easy to use. Good range too. I especially liked being able to program "silent mode", by individual phone, say between 11pm and 7am on station #1 (bedroom)and #2 (living room) and no silent mode for station #3 (kitchen). I don't have to remember to turn the ringer off and then back on later. You can also block peoples phone numbers that you never want to talk with. (gotta love that one)

One feature I also liked was how easy it is to enter new contacts / tel #'s)

I purchased this bubble jet as a second family printer mainly for documents, and letters and have been extremely impressed.
It's fairly compact, very easy to install and use and has already more than paid for itself.
The average cost of a replacement black cartridge is around online for multi packs of 5 and I have purchased multi packs of color cartridges also online at under each including shipping! Compared with many other top brands that cost up to per cartridge - that's a big big saving. As I said this is a "no frills" printer, but actually has very clear reproduction onto photo paper in high color using the idiot proof "Easy Photo" software provided. The Maintenance window allows you to do many functions including resetting the cartridges for low ink warning after installing new ones, a quiet mode for night printing, and many other functions. Another gem is the "Easy-Web" print feature that allows you to capture web pages for printing on standard paper without losing information on the edges, as you would using the regular print function from Windows. The only minor complaint I have is that being a bubble jet, high quality print in both BW and color can take a little while to dry, but other than this - it's a wonderful budget package, with a well known and respected name. If you're into CAD or high quality photo reproduction, imaging and such like then this is not for you - but if you print a lot of draft quality documents, and have a family especially who churn out pages of printed matter per day, this will serve you well, and save you a LOT of money. I've had mine for over 6 months and it is in daily use with NO problems to date. Highly recommended.

I've only begun using it today, and it appears to work quite well. Nice, clear signal, loaded with a lot of good features, but the lack of an input for a headset really has me scratching my head. Why did they leave off so valuable a feature, I'd much rather they left out some of the more esoteric, & superfluous ones they've added.

While it does have the capability of using the handset as a speakerphone, I'd much prefer the privacy & portability of plugging a headset in. If I'm doing something in the kitchen or even at the computer, a speakerphone will pick up far more of the background noise than a mic by my mouth, and I'll be able to hear better with a speaker by my ear, than sitting on a table or counter. Plus, if I want to be walking around, with the phone in my pocket, it will make both me, and the person I'm speaking to, have a very difficult time hearing each other.

I'm not sure if this will move me go to the trouble of returning it, it may, cause it's either deal with the inconvenience now, one time, or experience many more days of inconvenience, due to no headset, later.....

I've used this machine basically for faxing items out. I didn't need anything too fancy or too complicated. This unit actually has more involved functions that I don't need but I purchased it cause the price was right. So far so good, setup was simple, it is extremely lightweight (I kind of worried about this as my past fax was at least 3times heavier). Uses standard copier paper (thank goodness), fax is very quiet and scans pages quickly. It also has a hand-set if you need to make a regular phone call from it. I haven't received incoming faxes on it yet but if a problem arises, I will be sure to post additional feedback.

The main reason I purchased this particular machine was because it can scan film negatives, slide film, and photos. Since I have a dark room, it has been really useful to scan the negatives in the computer before I go print them in the dark room. It scans them very well. I could see how it would be very useful for someone who has alot of negatives without photos and wants to print the photos digitally. Slide film tends to scan in a little faded looking, but it does a good job considering its from a slide. I just use a photo program to adjust the contrast. This scanner scans photos and documents like a pro! For the price, this baby is awesome! I would highly recommend it. It is pretty fast with photos, although it does take longer when you are scanning negatives or film. Its also quiet, unlike my old one which sounded like a dying horse!

I think I might have a newer model of this - the sticker on the bottom says it is a SLIDES2PCMK2 & it looks different than the one shown here. But it seems to have all the same features and accessories. The box said it works with Windows 7 - which is why I think it might be a newer version. Anyway.

To start off let me explain why I'm giving this four stars and not five. The box says it should work with Windows 7, but I could not get it to. Course, that might be more of a problem with my running Win 7 Pro 64-bit. There is a 64-bit driver, but I think it's for Vista. I did however get this scanner to work on my older Win XP machine, which is fine with me. I did not install the photo editing software that comes with the scanner - ArcSoft PhotoImpressions 6.1.56.147. Instead, I'm using Adobe Photoshop 7 and that seems to work just fine. I did have a bit of a problem when I hooked up the scanner for the first time. While the driver showed up in Photoshop's list of import devices - it locked up when I tried to open it. Rebooting the machine cleared that up. I guess Photoshop needed to be restarted after the new device driver was installed.

So far I've just played with this scanner for a couple hours tonight. Scanning in a few slides and negatives to get a feel of how this scanner works. I'm pretty happy with the results - course that is keeping in mind that this is a +/- device. Most of what I'm going to be scanning with this device are old slides and old negatives - stuff from back in the early 60's (maybe even late 50's) and some stuff from the 70's / 80's too. A lot of stuff which ain't in the best of shape - stuff that was kept in a hot attic. Which is one of the reasons that I want to use Photoshop, so that I can at least do some repair after scanning the images. The quality of the scan depends on the quality of the slide/negative. The stuff that is in pretty great shape scans great, the stuff that is faded and the colors have shifted scan pretty poorly. The scans are 5MP, which makes them 2592x1680. Not exactly high quality these days, but adequate for my needs. Yeah there are probably scanners that do higher resolutions, but those cost more than what I was willing to spend.

I may come back later and write about how this scanner works - what sets you go through to scan something.
